Overview
On TikTok Shop, products are found through creators: they promote your items in videos and LIVEs and earn a commission on each sale. This guide explains how merchants work with them, from commission and free samples to the orders a successful video brings.
A creator campaign is only as strong as the catalog and the stock behind it. Nembol publishes your products to TikTok Shop from Amazon, eBay, Etsy or Shopify, so creators can promote your full catalog, and syncs stock on every channel in real time, so the orders they generate never turn into cancellations.
If you sell on TikTok Shop, the useful question isn’t which platform to choose, but how to let TikTok find buyers and Meta convert the ones who didn’t buy the first time.
Give creators your whole catalog to sell. Publish your products to TikTok Shop from the channels you already use, with stock synced everywhere.
How does the TikTok Shop affiliate program work?
The TikTok Shop affiliate program lets merchants pay creators a commission on the sales they generate. Creators add your product to their videos or LIVEs, buyers purchase without leaving TikTok, and the commission is calculated on each order.
According to TikTok Shop’s guide to affiliate collaborations, merchants set up collaborations in two main ways:
* Commission can be set between 1% and 80% of the order value in both collaboration types (TikTok Shop Seller University).
Most merchants run both. Open collaboration puts the catalog in front of thousands of creators and shows which products they want to promote. Target collaboration rewards the creators who already sell well with a higher rate, samples and agreed deliverables, such as a number of videos or a LIVE.
TikTok Shop also lets merchants set a separate commission for Shop Ads, which applies when a creator’s video is used in ads.
Who can work with TikTok Shop creators?
Not every shop or product qualifies. Under TikTok Shop’s Affiliate Marketing Policy:
- Your shop needs a Shop Performance Score (SPS) of 3.5 or above. The score is evaluated daily. Below 3.5 you receive a warning, and below 3 the shop is disqualified from the affiliate program, which can end active collaborations.
- Each product is assessed separately. Products with high buyer dissatisfaction, intellectual property issues or review violations can be excluded.
- Creators have their own thresholds in some categories, based on their promotion performance and account health.
The practical consequence: the affiliate program rewards shops that fulfil orders reliably. Cancellations caused by overselling, late shipments and unhappy buyers lower your score, and a low score cuts you off from the creators who drive your sales. Operations and growth on TikTok Shop are the same problem.

How to find creators for your TikTok Shop
TikTok Shop gives merchants three main routes to creators:
- Find Creators in Seller Center. Search affiliate creators by category, audience, follower count and sales performance, and send target invitations. TikTok allows up to 1,000 target invitations per 24 hours.
- Inbound applications through open collaboration. Creators browse the products open to affiliates and apply to promote them. Products with free samples available rank higher when TikTok recommends products to creators.
- Creators already selling in your category. Look at who promotes similar products in your niche and how their content performs. Sales history is a better signal than follower count: a creator with a small, engaged audience in your category often sells more than a large general account.
When you evaluate a creator, focus on three points: whether their audience matches your buyer, whether they have sold products at your price point, and whether their content style fits the product. A pitch message that explains why the product suits their audience gets more acceptances than a generic invitation.
How much commission should you pay TikTok Shop creators?
Start from your margin, not from what other shops pay. TikTok Shop allows any rate between 1% and 80%, and there is no official benchmark by category. The right rate is the highest one your product can sustain once all the costs of a TikTok order are counted:
- TikTok Shop’s referral fee on the sale
- The creator commission
- Shipping and packaging
- Free samples sent to creators
- Returns
- Shop Ads, if you also run them
Work backwards from the margin you want to keep, then set two levels: a base rate for open collaboration, and a higher rate for target collaborations with creators who have already sold for you. Because open rate changes take 30 days to take effect, set the open rate carefully at the start.
If the same product sells on Amazon, eBay or your own store, the price on TikTok Shop doesn’t have to match. With Nembol’s pricing rules, you set a different price on each channel, so TikTok’s commission and fees are covered without changing your prices elsewhere.
Free samples: how to send them without losing money
Creators rarely promote a product they haven’t tried. TikTok Shop lets merchants offer free samples, or refund the creator’s purchase when they make their first sale, as described in TikTok’s guide to target collaborations.
To keep samples under control:
- Set eligibility rules in Sample Settings, such as category, follower count, past sales and shoppable content history, so samples go to creators likely to post.
- Use automatic approval only for target collaborations with creators you know.
- Track each sample to a result: a video, a LIVE, a number of orders. Creators who don’t post after receiving a sample shouldn’t receive the next one.
- Count samples as stock. Every sample is a unit that leaves your inventory. If the same product is listed on other channels, the stock figure has to reflect it.
What to do when a creator video takes off
A creator video doesn’t sell at a steady rate. It can sit flat for days and then generate hundreds of orders in an evening. That is the moment that decides whether a collaboration grows your business or damages your shop.
- Protect your stock on every channel. If the product is also listed on Amazon, eBay, Etsy or your own store, a TikTok spike can sell units you have already sold elsewhere. Each cancelled order lowers your Shop Performance Score.
- Ship on time. A surge of orders tests your fulfilment. If your stock is in Amazon’s warehouses, TikTok Shop orders can be fulfilled through Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment.
- Reward the creator. Move them to a target collaboration with a higher rate and ask for more content while the audience is engaged.
- Use the content again. With the creator’s authorization, a video that sold on TikTok can become an ad on TikTok and on Instagram and Facebook. See our guide to TikTok Shop and Meta ads.
- Plan the restock. A product that went viral once will be promoted again by other creators who saw the results.
Ready for the next creator video? Nembol keeps your TikTok Shop stock in sync with Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify and your own store in real time, so a viral spike doesn’t turn into cancelled orders.
How Nembol supports your work with TikTok Shop creators
Creators can only promote the products you list on TikTok Shop, and every order they generate has to be fulfilled without errors. Nembol covers both sides for merchants who already sell on other channels.
- Your full catalog, available to creators: import your products from the marketplace or store where your catalog already lives, whether that’s Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce or one of the many other channels Nembol connects, or from a CSV file, and publish them to TikTok Shop in bulk, without rebuilding each listing. More products on TikTok Shop means more products creators can choose to promote.
- Stock that follows every sale: with real-time inventory sync, an order generated by a creator on TikTok Shop updates your stock on every other channel, and the other way around. Fewer cancellations, a healthier Shop Performance Score.
- A price for each channel: pricing rules let you build TikTok’s commission and fees into the TikTok Shop price only.
- Orders in one dashboard: TikTok Shop orders arrive alongside your orders from every other channel, and can be sent to Amazon MCF for fulfilment when your stock is in Amazon’s warehouses.
- Campaigns on every channel: schedule promotions in advance, and Nembol restores original prices when they end.
- 0% commission, unlimited orders: a month of viral videos doesn’t raise your Nembol bill.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay TikTok Shop creators upfront?
No. The standard affiliate model is commission only: creators earn a percentage of each sale they generate, and you pay nothing if they don’t sell. TikTok Shop also supports flat-fee collaborations, where you pay a fixed amount for agreed content. The main upfront cost for most merchants is free samples.
Can I change a creator's commission rate?
Yes. Changes to a target collaboration rate take effect 5 days after you edit them, while changes to an open collaboration rate take effect after 30 days. Creators receive one rate per product, and the target rate always takes priority over the open rate.
Can small shops work with TikTok Shop creators?
Yes, as long as the shop meets the eligibility rules, starting with a Shop Performance Score of 3.5 or above. Small shops often get better results with smaller creators in their niche, whose audience matches the product and who are more likely to accept a commission-only collaboration.
Can creators promote products I also sell on Amazon or Etsy?
Yes. TikTok Shop doesn’t restrict where else your products are sold. Many buyers who discover a product through a creator later buy it on Amazon or on the brand’s site, so creator content often lifts sales on other channels too. With Nembol, the same products are listed on TikTok Shop and your other channels from one catalog, with stock kept in sync.
How do I stop overselling after a creator video goes viral?
Hold one stock figure for each product and update every channel the moment an order arrives. Manual updates can’t keep up with the order rate of a viral video. Nembol syncs inventory in real time between TikTok Shop and every other channel you sell on, from Shopify, Amazon and WooCommerce to the marketplaces, e-commerce platforms and social channels it integrates, so a unit sold through a creator is removed everywhere else.
